Here are a few comments from members who attended the show. Leaving Bexhill at 2am Thursday, we arrived at the NEC at approximately 8am after a relatively uneventful journey.
What would you like to spend? 10p for a new washer, or £1million less £5000 for a Gullwing Mercedes? Who would you like to meet? Stirling Moss, Mike and Ed from Wheeler Dealers, Elvis, Roger Moore (sat in the Volvo) or Wallace and Grommet? (The last few were on the Bexhill 100MC stand but didn’t say much!)
The most visited car on the stand was the Cortina 1600E (made in Dagenham). The most photographed vehicle was 'Piglet', and Wallace and Grommet wrestled also very popular. Plenty of attention was paid to the miniature showground display, (we were asked many times if the cars were for sale). Children young and old were attracted to the Scalextric layout on Charlie’s Jeep, and the Elva was covered with Teddy Bears and like the miniature cars, we were asked over and over again if they were for sale.
Much interest was shown to the Rover which featured Halloween, and also the Lanchester with its Christmas lights.
Thanks to Charlie for his inventiveness with regard to the stand which looked brilliant; the club banner which could be seen from afar so nobody could miss it!
Saturday was by far the busiest day with plenty of interest in our stand and many favourable comments such as “Well done”, “Well presented” and “Very close to the theme of the show, with an excellent variety of club vehicles”.
We arrived back in Bexhill in the early hours of Monday 17th November.
