Fliching Manor 24th April 2022 Drive it Day
Filching Manor was built around 1450. Filching Manor Motor Museum is the home of Bluebird K3, the last remaining intact Bluebird boat – a Rolls Royce engined speedboat driven by Sir Malcolm Campbell to take the World Water Speed Record in 1937. This is the only world record boat surviving intact.
This year’s Drive it Day run was the first for three years. We met at the De La Warr car park at around 10am and departed very shortly afterwards for a drive to Filching Manor and Motor Museum, the club has visited this museum before, but not for several years. The visit started by a talk about the history of the manor house which took approximately 30 to 40 minutes. We then walked up the hill to the bars for the motor museum buildings, where the Bluebird K3 world record boat is housed.
We had lunch in at the Coast Restaurant on return to Bexhill. The meal was excellent; I personally had the Carvery, and I must say that it was one of the best that I have had for many years.
