New Year's Run 2023

Sunday 8th January saw us meeting at the DLWP for our New Year's Run.

Cars started to arrive at 10am. This was the first event of 2023 and the first run Mark and Sue Hammett has organised.

As drivers and passengers arrived they were given details of the run.  After a bit of study time the cars set off heading out of Bexhill, soon saw the first car taking a wrong turn but we won’t name any names.

We followed a route out to the A21, then on to Sedlescombe, where we encountered very bumpy and potted roads towards Hawkhurst.

Our first stop was Merriments Garden Centre for a welcome coffee and for some a quick bite to eat. Fiona Hemsworth last to arrive made the usual dramatic entrance. Fully refreshed we started on part 2, a route out to Cranbrook, Sissinghurst, and Biddenden, looking out for visual clues along the way, as we continued through Tenterden and out towards Rye looking for the last of the 16 clues.

Our final destination was The Robin Hood in Icklesham where a Sunday dinner awaited.

While awaiting our food Mark gave us the answers to the clues on the run, then sneakily gave us a 20 Question general knowledge quiz. Whilst Sue helped out with the food orders, Mark gave us the final answers and totted up the scores.

Congratulations to Brian Bergman-Field and Doreen Slatter for highest score.

A huge thank you to Mark and Sue for a fantastic well organised run .
