In the same manner as last year's event, the day dawned bright and sunny, and what could well be the largest gathering in terms of vehicle and occupant numbers in recent times met at the De La Warr Pavilion.

Our destination was Paddock Wood Garden Centre, and our 40-mile route took us through Ninfield, Catsfield, Netherfield, and on towards Burwash and Stonegate before passing through Wadhurst and Lamberhurst.

On route, we passed a number of other groups on their own Drive It Day runs including one consisting entirely of supercars - why not?

Next year, we will be adopting a slightly different approach in respect of routes, as try as we may to find smaller roads with acceptable surfaces, it is becoming ever more difficult and the opportunities for plotting routes we have not previously travelled are likewise diminishing. Being based in a coastal town, we of course have only 50% of the area available to those living further inland.
