Bexhill Fire Cadets Presentation 12th February

It was a pleasure to once again visit Bexhill Community Fire Station to present a cheque for £921.90 in support of our local Fire Cadets programme; the funds having been raised at a quiz held at the Shiplu Tandoori restaurant in Bexhill last November between representatives of both the Bexhill 100 Motoring Club, and the Fire Service. Our thanks go to Cllr. Abul Azad for hosting the quiz, and his support of both the Bexhill 100 and the Fire Cadets is much appreciated.

Following welcoming cups of tea and coffee, the evening commenced with a call-to-order display by the Cadets after which came the cheque presentation, this being gratefully acknowledged by Group Manager, Kaye Lax on behalf of East Sussex Fire Cadets Unit (Bexhill).

Much to the Cadets’ delight and perhaps more so by those watching, the presentation was followed by a routine of physical exercises led by Partner and Engagement Manager, Susan Taylor whose input to the Fire Cadets programme is invaluable. The exercise programme had just started when a crash was heard from the direction of King Offa Way and soon after, firefighters arrived and a pump was promptly dispatched to attend a road traffic accident right on the crossroads outside. When we later left the building, two pumps and an ambulance were seen to be in attendance, and we hoped that all was well for those involved.

Back to the Fire Cadets exercise routine, a great deal of effort was shown and it was heartening to see these dedicated youngsters putting their spare time into such positive activities.

A most worthwhile and enjoyable evening was had by all.
