Bexhill 100 Classic & Custom Car Show 2025

20th Anniversary Show Review

This was the culmination of months of planning by the Show Committee assisted by many volunteers. We were blessed with sunshine, blue skies and a light breeze all day. By 6am the club marquee was a hive of activity with Sue and Graham providing refreshments, Julie handing out Hi-Viz vests, and Frances setting up the registration desk after looking after the trade stands. Chris, Charlie and Jeff were on hand to solve any problems and make last-minute adjustments. Gazebos were erected at the gates, and trade stands started to arrive followed by the exhibitors’ cars from 7am. Phil and his team of marshals swung into action like a well-oiled machine and around 500 cars were speedily parked up. Lady Regalia and her team of helpers set out the club regalia, tombola, raffle and other items for sale in their marquee.

At 10am, the three gates were opened to eager visitors, with the teams doing two-hour shifts taking card and cash payments and handing out show programmes. Entrance prices have been held since 2017, making our show one of the most affordable of its type, especially as children and carers are free. Steve made regular tours of the showground and collected cash from the gates for security. Litter is always a problem but the team of volunteers from Jesus Loves Bexhill worked hard all day keeping the area clean.

The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Sussex, Mr Graham Peters DL was taken around the show before officially opening it at 11am followed by the roar of Robin Read’s Dragster, which came all the way from Oxford, starting up. Elva, which was founded in Bexhill in 1955, are celebrating their 70th anniversary this year so we were pleased to welcome three cars plus their support vehicle.

Bexhill Promotions outdoor stage played a wide selection of music, and The Other Band entertained those enjoying the cream teas supplied by Bexhill Lions, who also ran the Fun Dog Show. Bexhill Fire Station sent a pump, and the club is a proud sponsor of their fire cadets. Children were entertained by Mr Bumble and games were put on by the Army Cadets, whilst Ruby had organised a colouring competition and duck hunt.

There were cars of all marques; a display of American and Hot Rod cars, motorbikes, camper vans and even a double decker bus.  As well as local exhibitors, many had travelled from West Sussex, Kent, Outer London, Surrey, Essex and Hampshire. A camper van with French number plates was even spotted. With such an array of vehicles it was a difficult job for the judges to choose the following winners:

The show is a real team effort, and our thanks go to everyone involved, especially those volunteering for the first time. Our new sponsors, Trenchline Utilities Limited, were not only generous with funding but also their time, and even brought one of their big trucks along and loaned a van to Sue H. to carry everything to be set up in the regalia marquee. Our use of this venue would not be possible without the co-operation received from Rother District Council, Bexhill Football Club and Bexhill Cricket Club.

We reached our goal to raise over £200,000 in our 20th anniversary year and each of the nominated local charities were presented with a cheque for £6000 at the September Club Night, these being:

The Association of Carers, Bexhill Beach Garden, Bexhill Heritage and Hastings RNLI.
