Pesentation Night (Gala Night) 3rd October

On the 3rd October we held our Presentation Night (Gala Night) where we presented the cheques to the four nominated charities at our AGM from the proceeds of our August Bank Holiday Show and the Anglo Continental Market. The number of members that attended the evening was 56 which was a fantastic turnout. Our chairman (Roger Gillett) opened the evening and welcomed all the members.  After a few announcements he handed the microphone over to our Treasurer (Charlie Rowland) who then with our show committee chairman (Tom Mason) proceeded to say that the amount given was not as much as in pervious years due to the bank holiday weather being so bad. The first charity that received a cheque was Bexhill Gateway Club by Philip Osbourne, who thank everybody for the donation, the money would go towards the many items that the club needed. The second charity that received a cheque was Bexhill Community Bus by Win Douche, she said that the community bus had been running for 30 years and it was run by all volunteers the money was gratefully received. The third charity that received a cheque was Children with Cancer by Peter Harwood, although this is a very small charity they support about 95 families, and the money will go towards their annual party and pantomime at Christmas. The fourth charity that received a cheque was the Royal National Lifeboat Institution by Mark Sawyer, he said that although they were a national charity all donations were used to save lives, he had in fact been on a call that very afternoon.
