Anglo/French Street Market 16th/17th September

Although the weather was a little mixed last weekend, this did not deter shoppers from enjoying the Anglo/Continental Street Market in Devonshire Road, Bexhill.  The street was closed to traffic from Parkhurst Road to Marina, so visitors could take their time to enjoy the tempting array of French items on offer, together with the wonderful hand crafted goods, home made cakes, fudge, jewellery and many other treats which were on offer from the UK traders.

Shining Lights were also at the market – complete with life-size Father Christmas and Bexhill 100 Hot Rod Sleigh helping to raise funds for Bexhill’s Christmas Lights and promoting their forthcoming Pyrotechnic Firework Display, which takes place in Bexhill on Sunday 5th November. The Homecall team were also there raising funds for the benefit of blind and partially sighted people living in Bexhill

Bexhill 100 Motoring Club hosts this twice yearly event, and their members work hard as volunteers all weekend from 5.00am to ensure that the road is free from parked cars, until 7.00pm to make sure the street is ready for general traffic. Bexhill 100 MC members marshalled the event all day and also displayed a selection of their classic cars at either end of the market.

Club Secretary, Lynn Brailsford would like to pass thanks to Elva Car Recovery who were on standby all weekend to remove any vehicles which were parked illegally, thus enabling the street traders to set up at 7.00am; and also thanks to Keir staff who cleaned and swept the street before and after the market on both days.

Both traders and shoppers had a great time and Bexhill 100 Motoring Club look forward to repeating the two markets in May and September next year.
