“My car is an AC Cobra replica as I'm not wealthy enough to own a real one and anyway, it's been more fun this way. The project was started in 1988 by a work colleague who built the basic road car which I acquired from him some 18 years ago. Since then I have been carrying out a significant improvement program on it, both under the bonnet and externally, to bring it to the showroom quality it is in today.
The body and chassis were originally acquired from Southern Roadcraft who are sadly no longer around as they produced one of the best body shells in the business. The running gear is from a 1975 Jaguar XJ6 and the engine is an upgraded Rover SD1 type 3.5 Litre with a short P6 front end to enable it to fit behind the front chassis member. There are few Chevy small block parts thrown in to complete the package.
The car is a dream to drive in fine weather but venturing out in the rain is definitely not recommended.”
